One of the most compelling things about working with glass is experiencing how the source, nature and direction of light completely transform how a stained glass panel is viewed and felt. Time of day, time of year, natural versus artificial lighting, which side of a piece the viewer is standing on all have an effect on the appearance and impact of a stained glass design - as seen in the Mourning Doves just below.

Below is a short video of a glass tree installation in the woods behind our house. A few were co-created with my husband Jayden Soroka from recycled glass during a workshop with local artist Nicole Bauberger. Jayden also made the wood trunk and branch frames for the large glass tree sculpture by the side of the highway.

I had many excellent teachers when I first started learning stained glass in the remote northern town of Whitehorse Yukon. Jeanine Baker was my first teacher and from her I’m very grateful to have learned the foundations of stained glass. Carmen Komish had a small supply shop at the time and she also offered classes that were very helpful in getting started. And Mike the Stained Glass Guy was always very generous with his time and expertise. Many thanks to all these wonderful teachers!
