With stained glass, I’ve always loved how the same piece can look so utterly different depending on the time of day or time of year. Working with glass allows me to continuously delight in the varied ways colour and texture interact with light whether coming from an interior source or light from outside.

Below is a short video of a glass tree installation in the woods behind our house. A few were co-created with my husband Jayden Soroka from recycled glass during a workshop with local artist Nicole Bauberger. Jayden also made the wood trunk and wooden frames for the large glass tree sculpture by the side of the highway.

I had many excellent teachers when I first started learning stained glass in the remote northern town of Whitehorse Yukon. Jeanine Baker was my first teacher and from her I’m very grateful to have learned the foundations of stained glass. Carmen Komish had a small supply shop at the time and she also offered classes that were very helpful in getting started. Finally Mike the Stained Glass Guy was always very generous with his time and expertise. Many thanks to all these wonderful teachers!
